Hi Lotti!

It's nice to meet you. You'll be having your surgery on my 6-week post-op anniversary. I think Wednesdays are auspicious days - Rachel also had her surgery on Wed.

I wasn't wired shut (thank goodness), but my OS said he wouldn't know whether I would be wired shut or not until he was doing the surgery. So I got lucky not being wired shut for 6 weeks.

I vomited blood *only* one time and that's because I turned down the nausea medication when I shouldn't have - so the lesson I learned that day was to take all the meds that were given to me!

I must say, I've had a very positive experience. But don't get me wrong - my patience has certainly been tested and it's not always easy because it takes time to fully recover. But I've met a lot of folks who I now consider to be my friends in the blogosphere. So you're definitely in good company!

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

No problem! We're a big family here.

Speaking of family, will any be coming to help you post surgery? I think having my mom with me the first week made a huge difference. And having a 6 month yr old baby, you'll definitely want an extra pair of helping hands.

Hi Lotti!

I had my upper jaw moved 12 days ago. Everyone I've met in the blog has been very helpful and encouraging. We are all at different stages in the surgery process and are willing to share our experiences. I feel like I'm not alone in this adventure. If you have any questions, I would gladly share my experiences with you. Best wishes on the 6th.

My daughter Kelley "Kam" had surgery last week. I would see if your doctor could give you your prescriptions before surgery. Kelley's OS didnt give them to use until she was released from the hospital which was about 5p.m. So I had to get her home then go out and fill her prescriptions. Well they didnt have everything. So I had to go to another pharmacy the next day. Fill your pantry with soup broth and ingedients to make smoothies. Kelley used cold packs and a heat wrap. I had the type that goes in the microwave, but the kind you plug in might work better, I found myself heating it up alot. Good luck with your surgery.
